How listings work
The same rules apply to every directory on the site, mortgage brokers, mortgage lenders and real estate appraisers.
Who can list
Anyone working as a mortgage broker or agent, a mortgage lender (including private lenders, MICs, credit unions and bank mortgage specialists) or a real estate appraiser in Canada. Listing is free. A lender may list under a person’s name or a company’s.
What a listing must include
- An email address and a mobile number, each confirmed by a one-time code
- A licence, registration or designation, and the regulator or body behind it, or, for bank and credit union staff, the institution
- A business address
- An About section of at least 300 characters
- Up to 5 cities served and up to 5 specialties, so a listing appears where the professional genuinely works
- A photo and logo, with permission to publish them
How results are ordered
By profile completeness, then by how long the listing has been live. Nobody buys position, and no listing is hidden behind a sponsorship.
What happens to an enquiry
It goes to the one professional whose listing you used, and to nobody else. Contact details on listings are held back deliberately so that an enquiry cannot be scraped and resold.
Common questions
Can a professional pay to rank higher?
No. Results are ordered by profile completeness, then by how long the listing has been live. Sponsored placements exist elsewhere on the site, are always labelled, and sit outside the results.
Do you check licences, registrations or designations?
No. Each listing shows the details the professional gave us, so that you can check them with the regulator or professional body yourself. We confirm only that an email address and a mobile number are reachable.
Who receives my enquiry?
Only the professional whose listing you used. It is not copied to anyone else, sold, or passed to a lender or lead buyer.
How do I report a listing?
Tell us through the contact page. If the credentials do not match the public register, report it to the regulator or professional body as well, they are the only ones who can act on it.
